Interested in receiving money for college? Both Air Force ROTC and the VT Corps of Cadets offer outstanding scholarship opportunities. An AFROTC scholarship can cover up to full tuition & fees, uniforms, books, plus a monthly allowance.

Air Force ROTC Scholarships

Get financial help for college and a job upon graduation! The opportunities offered by AFROTC are difficult to beat.

NOTE: HQ AFROTC asks students to declare a major for scholarship purposes, but some freshman spend 1 or 2 semesters accomplishing prerequisites to earn admittance into the department of their choice. Many students are classified as "University Studies" until they meet the requirements for their desired major.

What if I don't get a High School Scholarship?

The vast majority of cadets start AFROTC without a scholarship, but as you can see above, 60% of Det 875 cadets were awarded one! Eligible freshman & sophomores are automatically nominated each year. Cadets must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, meet medical & fitness standards, and be ranked in the top 3rd of his or her peers to be eligible. 22 cadets (11 freshman & 11 sophomores) earned an In-College Scholarship in 2007. Their average GPA was 3.33.

High School Application Deadlines

Apply at afrotc.com by December 1 of your senior year. Be proactive! Track your application regularly and apply to VT as a cadet by January 15.

The VTCC also offers many scholarship opportunities!

VTCC Cadets

Students admitted to Virginia Tech in the incoming freshman Corps of Cadets class are eligible for the Emerging Leadership Scholarship. For in-state students the ELS provides $2,000 per year totaling $8,000 over the four years of college. Out-of-state students are awarded $3,000 per year totaling $12,000 over four years.

Once the freshmen year is complete, cadets are eligible to compete for additional scholarships through the generous gifts of Corps Alumni. These rewards range from $1,000-$3,000 annually.

New members of the Regimental Band, the Highty-Tighties, can also receive a $1,000 scholarship.
